Updates

I figure it's time to update-

Ki and Atticus were Baptized this year. El and Taryn started school this year as kindergartners. Torrie had a baby boy on Sept 10th, 2011. Brian weighed 8lbs 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. He is growing quickly and adored by all. Grandpa will get to see him for the first time today-woo hoo. Brandie and the Statham's have been in Taiwan for a year now. They will come visit in June this year. Torrie is the only one lucky enough to get to go out to see them-it was awesome! Caleb and Annie moved to Arizona-yay-where Caleb is attending Mid Western University Dental School, they are also preparing to welcome a baby boy soon. Colton left home on the 13th of December flying to Brazil to serve his mission. He is in the MTC there for 9 weeks and then will head to the Teresina, Brazil Mission. He says that the language is tough. John has had some health issues this year, but is working full time again and trying to take things as easy as possible to prevent more bleeds.

Those are the high lights that I know of-I am sure there is more but no one has told me. We all seem to be doing well, and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Caleb, the BYU graduate!

John and I traveled down to Provo to see Caleb graduate from BYU in Anthropology on April 23, 2010. AWESOME! We stayed with Annie and Caleb and it was a whirlwind of getting to the next place we were supposed to be. And with Annie's good management we were early-really early. Thank you! He will to enter dental school next year, we hope in the West!

Colton's Eagle Scout Project

Colton has finished his Eagle Scout Project! With the help of the young men and women, and leaders in the ward, they gleaned 3,000 pounds of potatoes. They were then donated to, The Salvation Army, and The Soup Kitchen to help feed the less fortunate in Twin Falls, ID. It was about 180 bags of potatoes and one dusty job! Mom is just happy that it is before his 17th birthday and not two weeks or less, before his 18th, as his brothers before him. I think it is so awesome that all 5 of the Stott boys have achieved Eagle Scout.

Fishing in Florida

These are from our trip to Florida on the 16 to 20/22 of Sept, 2009. We caught snook, redfish, snappers, jacks, grouper, a few catfish (ok, a lot) and Tracy, who works with John, caught 100+ pound tarpon! Caught lots of sun too!

John's Recovery

Dad's Battle Wound:

This is what he has to say:

I feel a bit better everyday. My voice is very sore /weak and I am to speak only 5 minutes per hour for a few days. The Tumor was larger and deeper than the scan had indicated and after trying hard not to, the Dr needed to remove my left Jugular Vein. He says that will not be a long term problem. The right one will drain the blood back down. It did make the surgery more invasive and recovery a little more difficult. I have 38 staples from just behind my left ear down the V in my collar bones. The wound looks like it is healing fine. Wednesday I will return to the Dr for staple removal and further information. I have only taken three pain pills total on Tuesday, and just Tylenol since then. It has a deep ache at night but no surface type pain as the nerves were already pretty dead from the last time. I may work some Monday I spent the last couple of days quietly watching Colton play Basketball in summer league. He played both JV and Varsity and did 14 games in three days, playing about 10-12 minutes in each game. The games were two 20 minute running time deals, so lasted an hour. The Varsity team won 1st place. I would attend a game, come home and sleep then go watch again. Hailey had a tourney in Blackfoot which we could not attend. Her team got third place. No golf or fishing for two or three weeks and no lifting at all for 2-3 weeks then back to full activity. Just have to let the blood vessels all heal well before doing much. My left shoulder is very weak as it was 20 years ago, so I am sure I will have to build it back again.

What a trooper he is!

I spoke with Mum this evening and she said that the 4 hour surgery was a success. There was more cancer than they were expecting but the team did a great job and all looks good so far. Dad will be in for observation the next 24-48 hrs. and then should be returning home for recovery. Thank you for your prayers and love!

Some of you may or may not know, but this is what John O. has to say about his newly diagnosed cancer:

"I will be having surgery on my neck next Monday , they will remove the Cancer Tumor and I should be back to full work in one week and cleared for anything in 3-4 weeks. It is stage 2 papillairy cancer. No blood , lung or bone involved. It is a recurrence of the exact Cancer of 21 years ago. Kay and I still Plan to go to Montana Fri-Sun morning and then back here."
